Born in tune with the rhythms of the Well of Souls, loreman and loreladies are those who combine their natural attunement with the heart of the world, with a practical understanding of the minds and behavior of not only their fellow mortals, but the gods and immortals themselves.

Class Traits

Role: Leader. Your powers bolster the spirits of your allies and allow them more opportunities to attack. You also have limited control capability that reduces the effectiveness of the enemy.
Power Source: Discarnate. You wield the power of the secret Word and Song that resonate with the Well of Souls and grants you increasing control over sapient minds and local reality.

Bombastic Loremen
Reveling in their capabilities, bombastic Loremen prefer flashy, obvious effects, pressing their connection to the Word and Song to greater and greater effect until what they do is indistinguishable, or even greater than magic.

They prefer using musical instruments as implements and playing them for all they’re worth from the rear of the party. They favor Charisma as the primary statistic for their powers.

Warsong Loremen
Warsong Loremen use the Word and Song to augment their martial prowess, combining studied swordsmanship or archery with timely quips, and preternatural understanding of the world around as well as mentalist powers to manipulate their foes into doing their work for them.

Warsong loremen tend to combine a one handed weapon with a one handed ranged weapon, such as a pistol to give them a maximum range of effect. They prefer Intelligence as the primary statistic for their powers and Constitution to keep them in melee longer.

Implements
Loremen can use special musical instruments, orbs, or their own voice as implements to direct their powers. A loreman wielding a magical instrument or orb can add its enhancement bonus to attack and damage rolls of loreman powers as well as loreman paragon paths, that have the implement keyword.

Legerdemains
Loremen can use font of knowledge, loreman’s wardrobe, mage light and magical game as at-will powers.

Invigorating Rhapsody
You may use invigorating rhapsody as an encounter power.

Ritual Casting
Loremen gain the Ritual Casting feat as a bonus feat at first level. They start with a ritual book containing the Comprehend Languages ritual and one other first level ritual. Loremen can use rituals restricted to a given class even if they are not members of that class.

Fortes
In pursuit of understanding of the Word and the Song that resonate with all things, loremen gather knowledge and techniques from many areas of expertise, but each loreman has a specialty that they excel at beyond all others. These areas are called the loreman’s forte.

Choose one forte from the list below:

Polymath: You have traveled the world and have seen more sights in your short travels than most see in a lifetime. Gain a +1 bonus to knowledge checks and an additional +1 bonus to trained knowledge checks.
Savant of the Well: Your studies of the Well of Souls has taught you much in the ways of healing both body and soul. Whenever you use a power with the Healing keyword, the targets of that power gain 2 additional hit points.
Survival Guru: You’ve studied enough adventure journals to feel that you know exactly what to do in any situation. You and all allies within 5 squares of you gain a +1 bonus to saving throws.
Tactical Genius: You have studied the battles of the past and have learned the lesions they have to teach. Allies that flank with you gain an additional +1 bonus to attack rolls.
Warrior Adept: You have studied at the feet of weapon masters all over the world and have learned enough to suggest new an inventive tactics. Allies within 10 squares that can hear you gain a +1 bonus to damage rolls for powers with the weapon keyword.

Special: You can use invigorating rhapsody twice per encounter, but only once per round. At 21st level, you can use this power three times per encounter.

You create up to four objects, no larger than 1 square in any dimension, each of which appears within a square in range. These objects are, for all intents and purposes real (for example, if you conjure a chair, characters can sit in them). The squares occupied by these objects are considered difficult terrain and the objects themselves grant cover. If an object is attacked or used as a weapon, it evaporates into shadow.

The objects remain for up to eight hours or until dismissed. Any attempts to appraise them reveals them to be worthless. If you use Illusion Arts, all previous objects you have created using Illusion Arts evaporate as if they were attacked.
